According to the Ministry of Finance, the 16th conference at ministerial level was latterly held at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Hanoi for the economic cooperation in the Grand Mekong River Sub-region (GMS). Deputy-director of financial ministry Liao Xiaojun attended the meeting with his delegation, when saying it ought to lower the cost of border transport so as to gradually push forward cross-border trade and investment facilitation, including human investment in Mekong River district.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Ministers from China, Burma, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, has recalled the achievements ever gained, the consensus shared with the Asian development Bank and the representatives from international organizations. The meeting has approved the framework strategy for railway construction, agricultural co-op, the secondary strategic program on environment project, the plan for communication and trade facilitation, etc., following by the deepened researches in ten years development (2012-2022) in this area. Ministerial statement is issued at the end of the meeting.

Liao indicates it should enhance the good momentum in cooperation amid GMS countries to promote trade and investment with lowered cost of bordering transportation and at the same time insists in mutual support of infrastructure constructions on communication, electric power and telecommunication.
